My New Obsession

Sense I have been here, I have done many cool things. But none compare to what I did two weeks ago, and continue doing every Saturday... white water rafting on the Zambezi. I am obsessed, so obsessed in fact that I have gone twice and am planning on going at least two more times before I leave. The river is a grade 5 river, which means that it is really intense. I've done the whole Colorado River thing, but it doesn't even compare. The rapids have names such as: The Devil's Toilet Bowl, The Man Eater, and (the scariest) Mother. I have had three near death experiences, and I still cannot stop.

This is one of those blogs that can only be described through pictures. This one is Mother. Keep your eyes on the converse.

Mom is going to poop herself when she sees (or doesn't see as the case may be) you go under like that. Rock on river girl. Great pictures.

Oh, Nikki - first the lion pillow and now the river washing machine. You are so living on the edge. I'm going to go back to my safe (read: boring) job at the bank and not risk life and limb in an adventure of a lifetime.

Your pictures are fantastic, and I love your "baby" backpack.

okay so i finally caught up on your africa adventures and i have a few things to say.

1. you are a psycho

2. of course you would get obsessed with white water rafting. you are going to come back here and become one of those people that has to go bungee jumping 3 times a week for the "rush"

3. i knew you went there to take care of lions, why did you have to lie this whole time about children and sick people.

4. (VERY IMPORTANT) i need a few of those giant scarves you guys are wearing in those photos (but not like the one the girl on the far right is wearing because frankly that one is ugly).

5. you're actually a pretty amazing writer (although a little spell check and grammar work wouldn't hurt)

6. i am really proud of you.

7. please resist the urge to adopt a zimbabwe baby and bring him home just so you can be like angelina jolie because your mom already has sammy to take care of.

love you lots.
bring me things.

I can't beleive that you were able to do that and you actually enjoyed it!

Anyway, I stole your idea and set up my own travelblog for my trip which I have started right now today! It is a total ripoff of yours too.

Hey Nikki,
I can't believe my eyes. This can't be the same young lady I have known for so long. What a learning experience that you will take with you forever. You are so brave...where did that come from. Thanks for taking care of that young woman. How compassionate. You must see so much of that kind of poverty, disease, etc. I can't wait to see you again. Be safe.
